Here we come a-wassailing among the
leaves so green, here we come a-wandring so fair to be seen – love and joy come
to you, and to you your wassail too – and God bless you and send you a happy
new year, and God send you a happy new year.
Wassailing is
going from house to house, singing.
Some think
going caroling is silly and old-fashioned.
However, it’s something we can do with family and friends to restore
hope to our neighbors to whom we sing.
One Christmas a
few of our family members went caroling around to houses in the neighborhood
where my parents live, and several people greeted us with warm smiles and
thanked us for singing. And it warmed
our hearts as we sang together as one voice.
Did you know
the bible says we should sing to each other?
Ephesians 5
says “…speaking to one another with psalms, hymns, and songs from
the Spirit. Sing and make music
from your heart to the Lord,…”
Do it. This Christmas!
