Let it Snow
Oh the
weather outside is frightful, but the fire is so delightful – and since we’ve
no place to go – let it snow, let it snow, let it snow! It doesn’t show signs of stopping, and I’ve bought some corn for popping – the
lights are turned way down low – let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!
The weather outside here where I live is rarely
frightful in the winter, and like I wrote in another devo, it rarely snows
here. However, this is one of my
favorite carols because it depicts a cozy evening at home, by the fire, while
outside the whole world is turning white.
I think there’s nothing much prettier than
falling snowflakes. And when the ground,
the roofs, and the trees are covered with snow, it’s truly breathtaking.
Christmas is the time of year where kids’ eyes
are filled with wonder, and we adults should “strive” to have the some kind of gaze. And often
it does involve striving, because we get so caught up in buying and wrapping gifts, or we’re too
sad over circumstances, that we don’t stop to look at the beauty that falls
from the sky – individual snowflakes that fall from the hand of heaven.
Make a fire.
Squeal with delight. Pop some
popcorn. Turn down the lights.
And look up to see what might start falling
your way…covering you in white…ending all of your fright.
