Third verse to O Holy Night:
Truly He taught us to love one another
His law is love and His gospel is peace
Chains shall He break for the slave is our brother
And in His name all oppression shall cease
Sweet hymns of joy in grateful chorus raise we,
Let all within us praise His holy name.
His law is love and His gospel is peace
Chains shall He break for the slave is our brother
And in His name all oppression shall cease
Sweet hymns of joy in grateful chorus raise we,
Let all within us praise His holy name.
In light of all the media that Christians
and non-Christians alike receive when they say something offensive about
another, let’s remember the first line of this song.
Jesus taught us to love one another. He came to break the chains that hold us
tight, and to free us to love Him and love others as we love ourselves.
Jesus is the name above all others, the
name that ends oppression.
And in chorus, all together, we can sing
“sweet hymns” that praise his holy name.
