Hark! the herald angels sing,
"Glory to the newborn King!"
Peace on earth, and mercy mild,
God and sinners reconciled
Joyful, all ye nations, rise,
Join the triumph of the skies;
With th' angelic host proclaim,
"Christ is born in Bethlehem."
Hark! the herald angels sing,
"Glory to the newborn King!"
"Glory to the newborn King!"
Peace on earth, and mercy mild,
God and sinners reconciled
Joyful, all ye nations, rise,
Join the triumph of the skies;
With th' angelic host proclaim,
"Christ is born in Bethlehem."
Hark! the herald angels sing,
"Glory to the newborn King!"
“Herald” is defined as “a
person or thing viewed as a sign that something is about to happen.” And this song reminds us to listen to the
song the herald angels sang when Jesus was born – GLORY to the newborn King.
This song reminds us that God is holy, we are sinners, and
because of Jesus we are reconciled to God.
Reconciled means “restored friendly relations between.” In other words, God wants to hang out and
visit and talk with us, as father/daughter, so that we too can bask in his
glory and reflect his image of joy, peace, and love.
It’s almost Christmas.
Let’s join the “triumph” of the skies where the herald angels sing.
To triumph is to be victorious. And that is what Jesus is – Victorious King –
one who saves and delivers all mankind from death.
Hark! Listen! Christ
is born! He lives in us!
