River of Delights

Psalm 36:7-9 How priceless is your unfailing love, O God! People take refuge in the shadow of your wings. They feast on the abundance of your house;
you give them drink from your river of delights. For with you is the fountain of life;
 in your light
we see light.

Can you imagine a “river of delights?”  I’ve seen some pretty rivers, especially ones that have lights in the trees that line the banks, gondolas floating down the middle, and cool eateries alongside where those floating can stop and obtain refreshment.

However, God’s river of delights is like none other.  There’s this fountain right in the middle of it – it’s always flowing – and those who drink of it live forever.  Now that’s delightful!

The river Jordan led the children of Israel into the promised land, and the enemies that pursued them drowned in the deluge that followed.  I’d say the Jordan is a river of delight because it marked deliverance from Egypt – forever!

Revelation talks of a river of life that flows from his throne, with fruit trees along the banks, and trees with healing leaves.

God’s river of delights awaits you.  There is plenty of abundance for you and yours.  You can drink until you thirst no more.  And you can see his reflection in the light of the river.

It’s a priceless ride down this river of delights, and he’s paid your fare, so come along…
