Your Maker

Isaiah 54:5 – A great verse for women everywhere who have been abandoned either through divorce, death, or are currently living in a lifeless marriage:
For your Maker is your husband—the Lord Almighty is his name—the Holy One of Israel is your Redeemer; he is called the God of all the earth.

I have many friends who are alone.  And it’s hard.  So hard.

But the promise here in the Word is that the creator of the universe is our husband.  He’s the one who designed us with this innermost desire to be loved and cherished like only he can do – and like only he will do.

Our husbands can love us greatly, deeply, and demonstrate acts that make us feel special.  However, they cannot love us completely.  And they were were not created to do so.  Our Maker is our husband.

In these verses we are told his name – the Lord Almighty.  And it’s his name that we take as our own when we become one with him.

The Holy One – it’s this name we take when he cleanses us and makes us new and whole from all that has stained us.

Our Redeemer – the one who loved us enough to die for us and paid the ransom so that we might live.

And finally, the God of all the earth – nothing at all is impossible for him – because he created this planet, owns it, and manages it.

If you’re alone today, sit with your Maker, your husband, and let him lavish his love on you.
