Only One

Isaiah 51: Listen to me, you who pursue righteousness and who seek the Lord: Look to the rock from which you were cut  and to the quarry from which you were hewn; look to Abraham, your father, and to Sarah, who gave you birth. When I called him he was only one man, and I blessed him and made him many.

Sometimes, we need to stop and listen to the Lord.  We need to be reminded to look back to God’s faithfulness to those before us.

The last part of this passage is awesome. He called Abraham, when “he was only one man” and blessed him and made him many.

Are there times when you feel as though you are only one person, you can do only so much, and there is only one you to go around – yet you are being pulled in all directions?

As moms, wives, women who work, we can feel that way very often.  And we can come to a breaking point of stress and anxiety when we focus on how tired we’ve become and there is no more of us to give.

It’s in times like this, we need to seek the Lord and just receive his blessings.
He can take our oneness and make it multiply into many.

In other words, if we listen to him call our name, he might just say, "Follow me, and let go of all the directions in which you are being pulled, and see what I will do."

God promises rest to the weary, hope for the hopeless, and miracles to those who call on him.

God promised Abraham, one man, that he would be the father of many nations, with descendants too numerous to count.

That same  God will bless you today and take your oneness and make it more than enough for you and yours.
