Called

Isaiah 42: I, the Lord, have called you in righteousness; I will take hold of your hand. I will keep you and will make you to be a covenant for the people and a light for the Gentiles,

We didn’t come to know the Lord because of our own wisdom, our own intuition, or our own power.  We are called into a life with him, because he knows our name and he created us to walk with him.  It’s HIS doing, HIS calling, and HIS hand that grabs us.

Here we are reminded that He takes hold of our hand and keeps us.

We often try to shake loose from his hand so that we can run free or do as we please, but his hand is always right where we left it, open to receive us back again.

God has called us into righteousness and all that that entails:  a life of right standing before him because of the blood of Jesus.

We can’t live that life on our own.

But the promise here is that he will take hold of our hand.

There’s nothing more comforting to a child who is afraid than feeling the hand of his father take hold of him and guide him gently to safely.

Reach up.  He’s called you.  His hand is there.  And he will keep you safe.
