A Crown of Splendor

Isaiah 62 says…you will be called by a new name that the mouth of the Lord will bestow. You will be a crown of splendor in the Lord’s hand,
a royal diadem in the hand of your God.

Have you ever been called a bad name?  Or been labeled with a name that is less than desirable because of the way you look, something you’ve done, or by someone who looked down on you?

It’s not fun being called a name you hate.

This verse says God has a name for us that comes out of his mouth – a new name – one that is full of splendor.

The definition of a “diadem” is a “royal headband.”

Therefore, God says we are royalty.  We are the head and not the tail.  We are of great and impressive beauty to him (splendor).

Next time you hear that ugly name others have given you being called out, don’t let it label or define you.

Listen for his call, and listen for the new name that’s pleasant to your ears and warms your heart…and his.
