The Manger

Away in a manger,
No crib for His bed
The little Lord Jesus
Laid down His sweet head

This is a song sang by children, just for children, right?  And it's a sweet lullaby, all about the baby Jesus...totally irrelevant for adults, right?

No way.

God sent his son to come to earth, and it's super significant that he was born as a lowly baby on a bed of hay. He could have sent him as a lofty King, born in a palace on a bed of velvet.

Jesus started out connecting with humanity and all of the suffering that we experience on this earth, as humans.  He became acquainted with everything that we encounter from birth to death...on this earth.  And that's important, because we have a Savior who became the least among us, in order to show true greatness.

Away in a manger - Jesus was born - and yes he's still sweet.

Thank you, Sweet Savior, for choosing to obey your Father in love, to bring us hope this Christmas season.
