By Faith

Have you ever wondered what made the angels fall from heaven in the first place? If they walked with God, why did they buck against him, and eventually fall?

I’d like to contend it’s because angels don’t have faith.  In fact, my contention is that faith is something God breathed into man when he created us.

As defined in the Word, (Hebrews 11) faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see. This is what the ancients were commended for. By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God’s command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible.

Have you ever thought that perhaps faith was part of God’s creative work, as well?  He created the universe and then he breathed the breath of life into man, and thus man was able to walk in faith.

This makes me realize that walking with God, even experiencing his presence in a garden, doesn’t sustain a relationship with him.  We must exercise faith in him, and to exercise faith, we must encounter obstacles to overcome.

We’re not angels.  We are capable of having faith in our Creator, capable of believing in the unseen.  And that is what sustains us and brings us into a life of great expectation and fulfilled dreams.

What a great gift we’ve been given – faith.
