Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.
Throughout the course of a day, shadows change, depending on
the position of the sun. Therefore, our
shadows might be short or tall, in front of us, or behind us. In other words,
shadows shift when the sun moves.
God is our sun, our light, the giver of all good things…and
he never moves. This means he doesn’t
create shifting shadows.
This verse brings me great comfort, especially living in a
world that changes every day, in fact, every moment. We go to sleep and never know what may have
happened during the night.
Our Father – the one who flung the stars (heavenly lights)
into motion – never changes.
He’s good. He’s perfect.
He’s God.
