I
Corinthians 13:2 –
If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing.
I
suppose one who can fathom all mysteries is indeed a person that would be
well-known and liked. People might flock
to him/her to solve all of their individual problems. The same goes for a person who has all
knowledge. They would have a hard time
having a private life, because folks want mysteries solved, they want to
understand life, and they want someone to tell them all of the answers.
However,
we have to be careful when we go in search of mystery solvers and knowledge
sharers – if love is absent. In other
words, gaining all of that insight does us no good at all if love is not
present.
The
verse goes on further to state that even miraculous faith (the kind that moves
mountains) equates to nil – nothing – without love.
Gaining
knowledge, and expressing faith, might attract people – but it won’t secure
friendship.
Love
does that.
