Remember the hope offered yesterday,
while you’re walking in the wilderness?
Have you ever wondered just “why” you’ve had to walk there? I mean honestly, isn’t there a path through a
bustling city full of everything the eye desires?
Deuteronomy 8:16-17 says he gave
that group of people mentioned yesterday some manna (bread) to eat daily to
sustain them on their journey “to humble” and “test” them. Why? The answer is written “so that in the end it
might go well with you.”
If the people had brought about
their own provision while destitute, the end result would have been a haughty
spirit that beats the chest and says, “My power and the strength of my hands
have produced this wealth for me.” And we all know that that kind of pride
precedes a fall.
It’s when He feeds us daily and we
learn to trust that his hand is always full and open in front of us, we
remember His power that gives us ability to do anything at all.
So what these verses are asking is
this:
You want a good life, one that goes
well? Then humility and testing are something
you must know, and you must know it well.
There’s always a purpose behind the
path in which he chooses to lead us, and that purpose is always for good…not
evil.
