Remember when you were a kid and you were taught to color in
the lines so that your picture would look pretty? However, as you grew you may have been later
taught to color outside the lines, be an individual, and not conform!
I was thinking this morning about how reality is like
coloring in the lines, especially when it comes to prayer. When we pray for things like healing and
we’re still hurting after the “amen,” or when we pray for a miracle to happen,
but what we see sure doesn’t look like one, reality sets in, all within the
lines of logic and reason…and we’re finished.
The picture is done.
But…when we pray for healing and accept God’s timing and
answer, and when we expect a miracle and never give hope of seeing it…and when
we see things unseen as if they are seen, that’s like coloring outside the
lines. It’s messy, and it may not look
like much, especially if we’re just beginning our coloring page. Then as our
faith grows, and as our trust in HIS character settles in, that messy artwork takes
shape into the coolest piece of grandeur ever seen – the makings of a picture
of something that speaks to the soul – all from coloring outside the lines.
Reality may be the color you use to stay in the lines on
those outlined pictures, but faith must be the color you choose to create true
art without boundaries!
Lord, grant us faith to move your hand and allow you to work
and create...your most awesome masterpieces…our lives.
