The Reaping

December 12, 2012

The same chapter above speaks of another way to usher joy into your life.  Sow in tears.
It says those who sow in tears will reap in joy. Not only that, but when the joy comes – sheaves come with it.

What are sheaves?  They are bundles of grain.

So picture this:  You work hard every day and night providing for your family, praying for your kids and their friends, asking God to heal and save those who don’t know Him; and the tears you shed are many – because your heart breaks for them.  The tears fall like seeds…and something starts to grow.
Little shoots of grain start popping up – a prayer answered here, a door opening there, light in the darkness across the way – until you see the seed you’ve sown result in answered prayers.  This makes you smile because over the years your field is like “amber waves of grain” – how beautiful!

You reach down and gather these answered prayers into bundles, like gathering beautiful flowers of different colors that have grown wild in a field from scattered rain and sunshine.  These are your sheaves – bundles that bring you joy.

Be encouraged today.  If you are sowing tears…joy is in the reaping.  Look for it.
