The Joy Giver

December 9, 2012

Psalm 92 says we sing for joy at the works of his hands, that these works are great, and His thoughts are profound!

I think one reason we are told to rest one day a week is so that we take time to sit, look at the trees losing their leaves, feel the crisp wind blowing, observe the clouds as they move across the sky and wonder at the stars as they appear in the evening.  Just resting and observing his handiwork alone is enough to calm the soul to satisfaction, and joy.

But have you ever considered what God thinks about you?  It’s everywhere in the Bible.  His thoughts towards us are more numerous than the grains of sand by the sea.  And they’re all good thoughts!  In fact, what he thinks about us is profound!

If you don’t know what God thinks about you, and you haven’t taken time to rest and observe his hand in nature, set aside time – even an hour will do it – to see and believe.

It’s great to believe Jesus came as a baby in a manger as the Savior of the world and it’s necessary for salvation.  However, it’s also great to believe in his goodness towards YOU and his amazing creativity and power displayed right in your backyard.

In fact, it’s the only way you can truly sing for joy – when you know the joy giver.
