Jeremiah 11:7 For I solemnly warned your fathers in the day that I
brought them up from the land of Egypt, even to this day, warning persistently,
saying, “Listen to My voice.”
God set this group of people – the children of Israel – free
from slavery. He led them through the
wilderness and provided food and drink and provision through obstacles along
the way. He told them continually to
trust him, and to listen to his voice through his servant leader, Moses.
We know that this group of people repeatedly questioned,
grumbled and shook their fist – even at times wishing they were back in
slavery.
It’s a solemn word, our Father speaks to us, even today.
“Listen to My voice,” he says, ever so gently but ever so
seriously.
If we fail to listen to his voice through his word, through
those who love his word, and through his Spirit that lives within us, we might
stay a little too long out in the wilderness and miss out on all the milk and
honey in the promised land.
Good things come to those who listen and obey.
