Woe...

Isaiah 31:1
Woe to those who go down to Egypt for help, who rely on horses, who trust in the multitude of their chariots and in the great strength of their horsemen, but do not look to the Holy One of Israel, or seek help from the Lord.

Relying on Egypt, horses, chariots and horsemen isn’t part of our lives, but I’ve seen it on the big screen for sure. But for us today, it might be those who look back to their past, rely on jobs, friends, or material possessions.  It seems the more we amass things and puff up what we’ve accomplished in our own power, the more haughty we become.

This is a strong warning to NOT rely and trust in these things.  Why?

Because they will fail, every time….

We must seek help from the Lord, we must rely on his word, and his mercy, and look to Him for all sustenance and identity.

It’s only then that when war and oppression comes, we realize that the battle is his, not ours, and that we are the winner, not the loser.
