After we are told to gain wisdom and get
understanding, we are then clearly told what getting understanding looks like
in several verses in Proverbs:
It looks like holding our tongue (Proverbs 11:12)
It looks like patience (Proverbs 14:29)
It looks like keeping a straight course (Proverbs
15:21)
It looks like heeding correction (Proverbs 15:32)
It looks like being even-tempered (Proverbs
17:27)
All of those attributes are things we should seek
because they are clearly characteristics of people who have realized the value
and wisdom of submitting themselves to God and his love for them and others…
