By Understanding

Psalm 136 is interesting.

…to him who alone does great wonders, His love endures forever.
who by his understanding made the heavens, His love endures forever.
who spread out the earth upon the waters, His love endures forever.

Okay, we get that his love endures forever…or do we?

I find it interesting that this passage says the heavens were made by God’s “understanding” instead of his power and might.

Another definition of understanding is the ability to empathize with someone or be aware of their feelings, like when we understand when a friend is feeling down.

Have you ever looked all that God created and realized that because he understood that we would need something massive, something that encircles us, something beyond us, to remind of His love...therefore he made the heavens!?

Isn’t that an awesome thought?

By his understanding, his awareness of our hearts and minds, he created the amazing ceiling above our heads that twinkles with stars at night, and houses a huge round ball of fire by day – so we too could understand his amazing love for us.

Wow…
