Romans says “hope does not put us to
shame.” It then says, “You see, at just the right time, when we were still
powerless, Christ died for the ungodly.”
If we really grasp the reality of Christ
and his death and what that means for us – we are LOVED like no other – we
won’t ever lose hope. Christ saved the
day, he grabbed us from death and gave us life, and there’s really nothing at
all that can separate us from that great love.
If we really, really get that – we will always have hope in him, no
matter how powerless we feel.
I recently chatted with a friend who
struggles with believing that God really has good things in store for her and
her family. She grew up with a mom who
married multiple times and promised good things each time, from the new daddy
in the home. Only each time, this little
girl’s hopes were dashed.
God’s not like our earthly fathers. His love was poured out on us from the
beginning of time, and His love is never recalled, recoiled, or redirected –
it’s always a constant flow right over our head.
Hope in Him is never dashed. His love is perfect.
You see, it comes at just the right time.
