Do you know why it’s important to read the
Word daily, and to attend church with fellow believers?
I know many people who say they don’t
really get into reading the Bible, and they tire of going to church with
hypocrites. Really?
Romans says that everything that was
written is there to teach us, to offer us endurance and encouragement so that
we “might have hope.” In other words, if we don’t read about the goodness of
God, his faithfulness, his characters, his mighty works, we will lose sight of
who He is, what He’s all about, and how powerful He is. And that leads to hopelessness.
And when we quit going to church just
because someone sitting beside us offended us, or the sermons are sometimes
boring, or they’re always asking for help in the nursery, etc. we are just
being plain selfish. Church isn’t all
about us. It’s all about Him. Going to church and worshiping with others
who are struggling just like we are should be a pleasure, an encouragement, and
a place of hope! If it’s not, it’s most
likely we need an attitude change, not a change of churches.
Need hope?
Read the Word. Attend
church. Be encouraged.
