The book of Timothy says that if we are
rich in things of this world, we are not to be arrogant or have hope in our
riches. Why? Because they are so uncertain.
However, we are commanded to hope in God,
the One who richly provides us with “everything for our enjoyment.” What a blessing!
There’s an addendum to that command, and it’s
this – We are also commanded to:
- · Do good
- · Be rich in good deeds
- · Be generous and willing to share
It seems many of us have it the other way
around. We hope in our riches, thinking
they will satisfy. And we doubt in the
One who satisfies, thinking He is uncertain.
Lots of commands in these verses, with lots
of hope to follow, IF we get the order right!
