Paul signs off in Romans 15 with this
sentiment, “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in
him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”
What God do you serve? I serve a God of hope.
What do you need from God? He can fill you
with joy and peace.
How do you receive that joy and peace?
Through trusting in Him.
And then what? You overflow with hope.
How’s that? By the power of His Spirit!
Isn’t that a wonderful sign off? The very God you love and serve is the God of
hope. He authorizes you to hope in Him
and trust Him. And in return he offers to
fill you with all joy and peace so that you have more than you can stand!
God doesn’t just want you to hope just to “get
by,” by the skin on your teeth. I don’t
know about you, but there isn’t any skin on my teeth! God wants you to be this empty vessel that
comes to him in anticipation of good things, and then he wants to start filling
you up until your vessel runs over.
Psalm 23 says he anoints my head with oil
and my cup runs over.
Stand and soak today in hope.
