Deuteronomy 8:1 “All the commandments that I am commanding
you today you shall be careful to do, that you may live and
multiply, and go in and possess the land which the Lord swore to give to your forefathers.
God gave the 10 commandments for protection and life to his
people. He promised blessings to those
who obeyed. Later, his son Jesus came
and was given as a sacrifice for our sins, so that we no longer have to face
the consequences of sin – death. He
suffered that consequence in our place.
He then gave commandments to love the Lord with all our
hearts and to love our neighbor as we love ourselves.
It’s a simple command, and we now have his Holy Spirit living
within us, to enable us to obey.
And the blessings still come, for those who are careful to
obey…the blessing of life and not death, of multiplication and not division, of possession and not loss.
Be careful to do…all that he tells you to do.
