Deut 23:23 You shall be careful to perform what goes out from your
lips, just as you have voluntarily vowed to the Lord your God, what you have promised.
Little kids are not pleased when we adults promise something
to them and then don’t follow through. If
we say we’re going to build them a treehouse, they will hang on that promise
until the treehouse is built!
When we make promises to the Lord, we should also be serious
with our intent and obedience. If we
promise to serve and love Him, then we need to fulfill that promise daily.
When we promise to raise our children to know
Him, we need to make sure our days are not so full that time with Him gets
crowded out in favor of playing time on the field. If we make a vow before God to love and honor
our husbands, we need to do that with a faithful heart.
In other words, be careful what we say to Him, and what promises we make.
Words are important to the Lord. His word never fails. We can count on it. We need to be just as diligent as we can with
our words back to him.
Be careful what goes out from our lips…
