Overflowing

Colossians 2

So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.

There’s a progression to the thankfulness mentioned in this verse:

Receiving Jesus Christ

Living your life in him

Staying rooted and built up in him

Being strengthened in faith

Overflowing with thankfulness

When we receive Jesus, we invite him into our hearts and we believe and accept his salvation, forgiveness, and new life.  In response to his great love, we devote our lives to honoring and obeying his word, living for him, established in him, and growing stronger in him daily.

Out of that kind of lifestyle there’s a thankfulness that begins to overflow.

That’s a true heart of thanksgiving – one that lives in response to His Great Love for us.
