And he is the head of
the body, the church; he is the beginning and the firstborn from
among the dead, so that in everything he might have the
supremacy.
Even though we call our president the head of our
country and his wife the “first lady,” the highest authority in the land, they
are under submission to the supreme God we serve.
Even though we have ministers and preachers and
leaders who run our churches the best they know how, their decisions and
authority are under the supreme God we serve.
Even though death rules over this earth by
capturing the body of every human, even death doesn’t rule over us – because He
conquered it!
Authority is good, when it’s used well and in
submission to Him, and offered in loving service to those whom those in
authority lead. However, we’ve all been
burned at one time or another by someone in authority over us.
God is in control (as we read yesterday) and he
has supremacy (as we’re reading today), so we don’t have to fear those in
authority who shake and misuse their power.
We belong to HIM and him only, and he makes all
things work together for good to those who love him, because he is the head of
our body, our church, our country, and our home.
