Though Many...

I Corinthians 12
…But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually just as He wills.  For even as the body is one and yet has many members, and all the members of the body, though they are many, are one body, so also is Christ.
Prior to this verse, we read about different gifts given to each of us who love the Lord.  We know that we all have different gifts, all operating together, and when they do – this makes for a healthy body.
Wouldn’t it be silly for the body to be all one leg, or one eye or one foot?  In the same way it would be just as silly to have all of our parts but they all function exactly the same.  They don’t.  Each part of our physical body functions differently, but they all rely on the oneness of our body to function well.
When our eyes are weak and tired, they rely on our brain to tell us to shut them and sleep.  When we cut ourselves, the rest of the body rallies to stop the bleeding…in a healthy body.
One body, operating in many capacities, at full strength and wholeness, and that’s a marathon gold medal winner, right?

And that’s what Christ has called us to be…ONE.
