The Holy Day

Exodus 20:11 For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea and all that is in them, and rested on the seventh day; therefore the Lord blessed the sabbath day and made it holy.

I find it interesting that God made the day of rest holy.  He didn’t make the other six days where he created amazing things and people and animals and plants holy; instead, he made the day of rest holy.

I think, at least in my own experience, I fail to recognize His presence in the doing.  I tend to realize it and experience it in the sitting, in the contemplating, in the rest, and in the quiet.

It’s up to us to consecrate and set aside time to rest, at least once a week, so that we can experience his holiness.  When it’s noisy and full of busyness, the holiness is obscure.  When it’s quiet and full of rest, His presence can be felt.

If you’re too busy for a restful day once a week, you’re too busy, and you’re missing out one incredible aspect of your God.
