When You Pray

Luke 11:2 And He said to them, “When you pray, say: ‘Father, hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come.”

This is the first part of the Lord’s Prayer, the one Jesus told us to pray.  Why this phrase?

Just acknowledging him as our Father sets our heart in a position of honor, to listen, and to follow.

Stating that his name is sacred, and we want his kingdom to come, moves us out of the position of self into a position of holiness in his presence, again acknowledging that He is Lord.

This is super important when we go to pray.  It’s the first thing we must do, so that we are at peace and rest, knowing that our Father hears us, He is holy and worthy to be praised, and His kingdom is all that  matters.

Sometimes…we could just pray this one petition and be done…at peace…at rest.
