God the Giver

Did you know that the word Give and God are synonymous? God is a giver.  And giving is God.  So in order to learn how to give, we just simply look at what he did and what he gave, and we learn.

In Genesis 1, look at just these two verses and see what kind of God, the Creator, is:

The fear of you and the terror of you will be on every beast of the earth and on every bird of the sky; with everything that creeps on the ground, and all the fish of the sea, into your hand they are given.

Every moving thing that is alive shall be food for you; I give all to you, as I gave the green plant.

God created the birds and the fish and the animals and everything alive we see on the earth, and he gave it to us.  He freely shared all that he created, and he entrusted it all to us.
Of course, we know that mankind blew that trust.  But God, in his mercy (which always goes with giving), already had a plan to give his only son.

That’s the beginning of giving.  He created and gave, holding nothing back.
