Don't Dread

Isaiah 8: 12, 13
“Do not call conspiracy everything this people calls a conspiracy; do not fear what they fear, and do not dread it. The Lord Almighty is the one you are to regard as holy, he is the one you are to fear, he is the one you are to dread.

What an interesting passage that can be applied to a time such as we live in, now!

We buy into what our neighbors fear, what the media portrays as being fearful (i.e. the latest disease that’s killing 100’s, the nearest weather disaster, a killer on the loose)and even into our social group’s fears of the future, old age, kids growing up, etc.  And it sends us spiraling into a one very bad day, when we start to fear what “others” fear.

But what we’re really supposed to “fear” and hold in high esteem, and regard His words and what He says about our lives and our future, is the LORD ALMIGHTY.

Ouch.

I think we can safely say that when we are buying into the world’s fears and calling what they call something to dread, instead of trusting and obeying and regarding the Lord and his plans and his future and his hope, we are not in a good place.

Caught up in others’ fears?

Shake loose and fear the Lord, and ironically, peace will rule your hearts and minds…
