Remember yesterday’s devo where we lined out what
a rich life looks like?
I Timothy give us the opposite kind of picture:
If anyone
teaches otherwise and does not agree to the sound instruction of our Lord
Jesus Christ and to godly teaching, they are
conceited and understand nothing. They have an unhealthy interest in controversies
and quarrels about words that result in envy, strife, malicious talk, evil suspicions and constant friction between people of corrupt mind, who have been
robbed of the truth and who think that godliness is a means to financial gain.
True
understanding comes when we grasp the mystery of Christ’s love for us. Anything
other than that and we understand
nothing at all.
In fact,
these verses describe a life full of misunderstanding of the love of Christ:
Always
quarreling
Always
envying
Always
striving
Always
talking in a harmful manner
Always
suspicious
Always
causing friction
If that
describes your life or someone you know, pray.
Pray for the truth to be revealed of what it means to gain understanding
and riches in this life. It had nothing
to do with financial gain.
It has
everything to do with Jesus.
