Philippians 4 says Be anxious for nothing, but in
everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made
known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all[b]comprehension,
will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Have you ever wondered why God tells us to pour
out our anxious thoughts to him, when he already knows our thoughts?
If we have a good marriage, we know that our
spouse loves us. But how important is it
for our spouse to share that love out loud and in actions? What about his needs and desires and
thoughts? There’s no greater intimacy
than to share one’s deepest feelings and desires.
God created us to be in fellowship with him. And when we cease to communicate with him
through thanksgiving and petitions, that fellowship suffers – and anxiety sets
in.
It’s important to talk to Him and let it all out.
It’s then, and only then, that peace can come
flowing in like a rivers, surpassing all intellect and confusion, and be a wall
of water that surrounds our hearts with the knowledge that we have been heard.
By God.
When we are able to release our desires to
someone who actually hears us and cares about us, and someone who can settle
our hearts…
There’s nothing sweeter.
