Psalm 65 says The whole
earth is filled with awe at your wonders; where morning dawns, where evening fades, you call forth songs of joy.
Have you ever thought that
when the sun rises, the flowers perk up and show their blooms, the dew on the
grass fades, and the brightness of the day appears – all of creation is singing
a song? When the darkness is over (every
24 hours), the earth wakes up, and everything in it. And it’s not awake because of its own will,
it’s awake because God calls it out.
God calls out songs of joy
from the deepest places in our hearts, and it’s often after the darkest
times. All we have to do is respond to
the son (sun.)
When morning arrives
tomorrow and you see the sun peeking through the window, lie still and
listen. When you open the blinds or pull
back the curtains and see the dew on the grass, observe it and note how it
glimmers in the sunlight. And when you
see the last trace of the moon in the sky disappear as the sun takes over,
remember that the moon will appear again tonight when the darkness comes.
God never leaves us
without light. He never abandons us
without hope. And he never allows the
darkness to cover up the songs of joy that come in the morning.
Sing out, in response to
his call.
