The Same Mind

Romans 12 says, Be devoted to one another in brotherly love; give preference to one another in honor; Be of the same mind toward one another; do not be haughty in mind, but associate with the lowly. Do not be wise in your own estimation.

Here’s another description of what it means to be one. It’s all about the attitude of the heart, and how much gratitude is inside.

When we are full of gratitude, we will honor and love each other and be of the “same mind” – not to vote or do like each other exactly – but to associate on the same level – that of humility and honor.

Being one with another is to not exalt oneself above them because of economic status, race, material things, or intellect.  And when we have a lot of “things” in this world that are deemed a sign of “success” it’s easy to sit up on a high rock and beat our chest while we look out at those below us – or over them and completely miss them.

The only way to see the  needs of others, to love them as one, is to stand where they stand and sit where they sit…not above them.
