II Chronicles 5:13 in
unison when the trumpeters and the singers were to make themselves heard with one voice to praise and to glorify the Lord, and when they lifted up
their voice accompanied by trumpets and cymbals and instruments of music, and
when they praised the Lord saying,
“He indeed is good for His
lovingkindness is everlasting,” then the house, the house of the Lord, was filled with a cloud,
Skipping forward in the New Testament to this book, we read
that the worshipers did so with ONE voice.
It appears to mean that they all declared the same praises to
God about who he is and was. It even
says they sang in unison – no harmony – all on the same note.
After they did this, the house was filled with a cloud –
symbolizing His presence.
I sing on a worship team, and when we want emphasis and the
lyrics to really be heard, we too sing in unison. Unison, apart from constant harmony, can be
bold and daring and audible and evoke a response.
There’s something to be said about joining with others in one
voice to hear yourself say it, to hear others say it, and to hear the whole
group say it –
He is indeed good!
His lovingkindness is everlasting!
