Joshua 1: 7, 8 Only be strong and very courageous; be careful to do according to all the law which
Moses My servant commanded you; do not turn from it to the right or to the
left, so that you may have success wherever you go. This book of the law shall
not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that
you may be careful to do according to all that is written
in it; for then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have
success.
There’s
not much to add to these verses. They
say it all.
It
takes strength and courage to obey. Even
our kids know that. In the middle of
temptation, in the group of kids who are disobeying, among peers who are
mocking them, we require obedience from our kids to that which we have taught
them.
If
they do obey, and don't play in the street, they won’t get run over.
If
they do obey, and don't tell a lie, they will sleep with a clear conscience.
If
they we do obey, and put up their toys, dad won’t slip and fall.
God
has a lot of “ifs” too, and we have to be careful to obey them by thinking on
them at all times, and choosing to do them in His strength and because we love
Him…and what He says brings life.
