In the Morning

Psalm 143 cont’d:
Let me hear Your lovingkindness in the morning; For I trust in You; Teach me the way in which I should walk; For to You I lift up my soul.

What’s the first thing you hear when you awake in the morning?  The coffee grinder grinding? Kids crying? Car whizzing by outside on the street?

It’s a good practice to train ourselves to her his lovingkindness when we first open our eyes.  In other words, we can hear him say “Good morning,” and we can hear ourselves say, “Lord, it IS a good morning.” Why? Because we trust in Him.

Every day, we can ask the Lord to teach us to walk in his ways, and he will do it.  When we lift up our soul to him (even on mornings when we don’t feel like it), he will take our hand and walk with us during the day, guiding our steps.

What we hear, say, and repeat when we get up in the morning usually determines our day.  If we awake in fear, we doubt God’s love, and we step outside in our own strength, we’re on a course for a disappointing day.

We don’t have to live that way.

Train your ears to hear his lovingkindness when the sun arises every morning to offer you another blessed day.
