Christmas carols are over, it’s now time to
hit the stores for returns and stand in those long lines, and to clean up the
mess that all the unwrapping of gifts left in our homes.
Life continues on back to work for some, back
to reality for all of us, and it’s often a huge letdown. I feel it mostly when all of my family leaves
and the tree is down, and the house feels “empty” once again.
The fears and uncertainty of life don’t
take long to rise to the surface again, from being stuffed and hidden under the
pretty bows and ribbons that adorned our gifts.
But wait!
All of that “hope” we sang about during the season is still here. In fact, Job 11:18 says “You will
be secure, because there is hope; you will look about you and take your rest in
safety.”
Decide today that you will choose to believe that
your life is not in your hands, but in the hands of the one who is a firm
foundation for us, the rock on which we stand, the refuge in which we hide –
Jesus.
Look about you.
Take your rest. Because there is
hope.
