Rev 3:3 So remember what you have received and heard; and
keep it, and repent. Therefore if you do not wake up, I will come like a thief,
and you will not know at what hour I will come to you.
We are near the end of the verses on repentance, and these
last couple of days they’re from the book of Revelation, a book that tells
about what it will be like when Christ comes again. Most of us don’t think about his return all
that much, because we’re entrenched in living our days down here. But he is coming…and here’s a warning.
We must remember the word, His word, and keep it next to our
hearts, and repent when we have sinned. It’s
not a taboo word, a word that brings shame.
It’s anything but that.
The Bible often talks of Jesus’ return being compared to a
thief coming in the middle of the night, and it will happen just like that – we
won’t know it – but then there it is!
But instead of a thief coming to rob us, it’s our Savior
coming to take us – to the eternal presence with Him – where no sorrow or grief
or pain exists.
Therefore, heed his words to repent – that act of contrition
and sorrow – that’s one of the best action verbs we put into place in our
lives.
Repentance. What a
privilege.
