Matthew 8:3 is the
first verse we read in the NT of Jesus touching a person:
And Jesus put forth his hand, and touched him,
saying, I will; be thou clean. And immediately his leprosy was cleansed.
Jesus could have just spoken a word, prayed a prayer, or just
pointed to the man. But instead, he
touched him. and the result was healing.
God made us to be humans of touch. We know that cruel touching and harmful blows
cause wounds that last a lifetime, and even sometimes result in death. But just the opposite is true. Healing touches and revitalizing word
accompanied with those touches can also last a lifetime, and even cause
miracles.
There’s something to touching another person on the shoulder,
when praying for him/her. We are humans
that respond to touch, and when touched by Jesus, we respond to life.
