Jesus spent the few days before his crucifixion relaxing
with his disciples. These were the guys he had walked with, taught the truth,
and lived his life in front of them. And
yet, Jesus knew all of them would eventually fall away.
Some of the disciples spoke up (in Matthew
26) and declared their love to Jesus, stating they would never fall away. Peter said (in verse 33) “Even if all fall
away on account of you, I never will.”
Jesus knew Peter would deny him before the
rooster crowed three times, and still Jesus broke break with Peter and died for
him.
Jesus knows that when we sing hymns and
pray, declaring our undying, faithful love for him that when we rise and go
back to life, we just might crumble in the face of adversity.
Jesus wants to commune with you, today. He
wants to break bread with you, and remind you of his great love for you.
He knows you’re weak, but he also knows your
heart, that it desperately wants to please him and serve him. He’s willing to take the risk to love you
completely, faults and all.
Are you willing to take the risk to
receive his love, even when you stumble and fall? His mercies are new every morning, and his compassion never fails...
